My Hidden Camera Exposed the Plan My Husband Made With His Mother
Months after my husband gave his mother a key, I checked the camera footage while we were both supposedly at work. My mother-in-law entered carrying a folder, followed moments later by my husband. They sat at our kitchen table and began discussing the house as though I no longer lived there.
The recording captured everything.
His mother had helped with the original deposit, but the property was legally owned by my husband and me. Still, they had planned to pressure me into signing documents that would transfer my share to him. My husband intended to claim we needed to refinance, while his mother repeatedly said the house should remain “in the family” if our marriage ended.
I saved copies of the footage and contacted my own solicitor before confronting either of them. The documents they later placed in front of me looked like routine mortgage forms, exactly as they had planned. Instead of signing, I handed my husband a folder containing screenshots, legal advice, and a formal notice that the locks would be changed.
His mother insisted she had paid for the house, but bank records showed her money had been documented as a gift—not ownership.
My marriage ended soon afterward. The camera did not destroy our relationship. It simply showed me that while I was trying to protect our home, my husband and his mother were quietly planning how to remove me from it.
